10th Anniversary
Ayumi Hamasaki: A Classical (2013.01.08)
Aside from the predominantly house and electronic-based remixes that comprise the bulk of Ayumi Hamasaki’s remixography, there's an acoustic orchestral side, beginning with the Acoustic Orchestra albums that fell under the ayu-mi-x banner, and which eventually morphed into full orchestral re-imaginings, as in MY STORY Classical (2005), A Classical (2013), LOVE CLASSICS (2015), and Winter diary ~A7 Classical~ (2015).
A Classical was released during Ayumi's 15th anniversary celebrations, and in the third of five consecutive months of releases. Seven of the songs were chosen by her TeamAyu fan club members and rearranged by Kousuke Yamashita. I'm assuming all of the legacy tracks were chosen by fans, while the recently-released "You & Me," "Song 4 u," and "Missing" off of the LOVE EP released two months prior was selected by Ayu's actual team. Most of the songs chosen here work really well, in particular the ballads "SEASONS," "Days," and "Voyage," which were practically tailor-made for sweeping strings. The opener "M" has the best arrangement on here -- there's just something so perfect about this song that it works in almost any context that it's put into. That being said, I don't think it's as good as the arrangement on ayu-mi-x IV version Acoustic Orchestra (2002), which is still my favorite of the two. You can also compare some of these to other arrangements, like Akimitsu Honma's version of "BLUE BIRD" on ayu-mi-x 7 -version Acoustic Orchestra- (2011), and Ken Shima's arrangement of "Voyage" on the No way to say (2003) single.
Suffice to say, for some of these, like "SEASONS," for which we have other orchestral versions (on the SEASONS single and a slightly different version on ayu-mi-x III), over-kill is an understatement, while tracks like "You & Me" just sound awkward and unsuited to the gentle pace. "Love song" is interesting, too, as I'm not sure that it totally works, but I love that it's a song we've never heard with this kind of arrangement before. All that being said, it's still a serviceable collection, and the recordings sound particularly good here. Some of the earlier acoustic orchestra versions can sound a bit bare or synthetically created, while the music for this album was recorded with a live orchestra, making for a more dramatic and immersive experience (all the brass makes a really big difference). In fact, it would be great to have the bare instrumentals for these.
This album comes with an OBI, a fold-out sheet with credits listing the instrumentalists on each track, a promo sheet with details of the anniversary releases, and two separate sheets: a sheet of lyrics, and a fold-out poster of the album cover art. The cover art was drawn by Takashi Murakami, and is a pencil rendering of the cover of Ayu's LOVE EP. Personally, I am not a huge fan of this approach and think that it's both repetitive and unimaginative. It's really impressive to hand-draw something this realistic-looking, but it also comes off looking a bit like it was run through Photoshop. I feel the same way about the cover art of LOVE CLASSICS, which is another piece of fan-art based on the cover of the Zutto... single, but also looks like a Photoshop filter. You can consider these jackets like soft “remixes” of the originals, just like the musical content of the CD, so your ability to be moved by that idea is a matter of opinion.
Regardless, this album is overall solid, if perhaps unnecessary. I don't think any of these versions are any better than other orchestral arrangements that we've gotten in the past, aside from the added bonus of having an actual live orchestra, which is the definite reason to hear this. The instrumentals are quite accomplished: sweeping, romantic, and altogether lovely. The vocals of course vary depending on when they were recorded. It's easy to choose some of Ayu's most well-known ballads for these arrangements, in terms of popularity and adaptability, but I would love to hear orchestral versions of album cuts that we haven't gotten before like "Heartplace," "Over,” "Dolls," "JEWEL," or "rainy day." I guess I'll keep dreaming for now.

Kizuna Road 2021 Night 7 - 6/23/2021
The tour continued today, and you can see it now on NJPWWorld. Another title match main event on this show. The third match was changed, so as to highlight the challenge by the Third Generation for the NEVER Comedy titles. How far as EVIL fallen where he gets shunted off the card. He was IWGP Heavyweight Champion a year-ish ago...
- 6/23/2021, Tokyo Korakuen Hall (NJPWWorld)
Yuya Uemura Trial Series: Great O-Khan [United Empire] d. Yuya Uemura (Boston Crab, 11:30)
Yota Tsuji Trial Series: Kota Ibushi d. Yota Tsuji (High-Angle Half Crab, 13:13)
Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, Kazuchika Okada & Toru Yano [CHAOS] d. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima, Yuji Nagata, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma (Ishii > Honma, Vertical Drop Brainbuster, 13:19)
Taichi, Zack Sabre Jr., El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru [SZKG] d. Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI [Los Ingobernables] (Desperado > BUSHI, Pinche Loco, 12:26)
IWGP Juniorheavyweight Tag Team Championship: Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo [Bullet Club] d. SHO & YOH [CHAOS] © (Phantasmo > YOH, Sudden Death, 26:43) - Roppongi 3K fail their 2nd defense - Ishimori/ELP are the 66th champions
ELP gets the win, still using the loaded boot superkick gimmick. Now we will get RPG3K on the road to regain the belts at WK16, because that’s what happens every year without fail now. It’s the circle of life for these titles. Ishimori then called out El Desperado, claiming he will be the next juniorheavyweight double champion.
During the intermission, Hiromu Takahashi came out disguised as a cameraman but took a spot on commentary, and celebrated Tetsuya Naito’s 39th birthday, which was actually yesterday. One of these days I’ll make myself a calendar with everyone’s birthdays. Today is not that day. Feliz belated cumpleanos, Naito-san.
The CHAOS NEVER champions and the Third Generation brawled post-match. The Young Lions’ trial series is over, and tho they were winless, they looked pretty good. O-Khan, only a recent returnee himself, makes the Empire’s only appearance on this tour so far.
On that note, we don’t know what the rest of the tour has in store, as the lineups aren’t released yet. The next show is on Saturday. Before then, Impact Wrestling’s TV show on AXS tomorrow night will feature Violent By Design v. Satoshi Kojima & Eddie Edwards for the Impact World Tag Team titles. That’s at 8pm EDT / 7pm CDT on AXS and Twitch. The Ignition series of NJPW Strong episodes comes to a close this Friday, as “Filthy” Tom Lawlor makes his second defense of the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship against Karl Fredericks. That’s at 10pm EDT / 9pm CDT on NJPWWorld.
I also realized today that it’s the 3rd Anniversary of one of my favorite wrestling matches of the last few years, Minoru Suzuki v. Kazuchika Okada from the Great Pirate Festival in Yokohama on 6/23/2018, celebrating the 50th birthday and 30th wrestling anniversary of Suzuki. This match is a work of art, right down to the Rainmaker entrance in a torrential downpour, and Ayumi Nakamura singing Minoru Suzuki out with “Kaze ni Nare,” and THEN ring announcing! Truly a wonderous spectacle to behold. It’s on NJPWWorld, I suggest you see it.

Posting while watching Himitsu no Kenmin SHOW!
Haga Akane-chan,
Will do her best as the representative from Nagano--!

Since Nagano is where my grandpa lives, I’ve been there many times,
But I didn’t know about Nagano’s love of salad rolls lol
I know well of Akanechin’s love of Nagano!
There probably aren’t any girls who can talk in the same way, but not just that is on display,
Saying, I’ll teach!
With Google-sensei and Siri,
Its amazing what details you can teach! Lol
Speaking of love,
Yesterday’s Honma Dekka TV,
Matsuoka Mayu-san made an appearance and,
She talked about the day we were on stage together!
It flowed in the video of the live
And she talked about the resurrection of Sayashi-san the other day
(Unfortunately you couldn’t see anything of the stage…) (Ah, she wanted to go to the stage but couldn’t…)
Talking about her love, I have feelings of ❤ Thank you very much
I thought while watching Matsuoka-san, suddenly seeing myself on TV, I ended up saying Wa--! Lol
Continuing with the TV talk, an announcement!
Yomiuri TV “Hama-chan is!”
Ishida Ayumi and Makino Maria made an appearance
It’ll be broadcast on Yomiuri TV on May 1st around midnight~
Regarding local broadcasts, since the broadcast day or time may be different, please check on HP for it
This was the work that I had been doing with Maria before~

Love Live! Sunshine!! Ruby VA Ai Furihata Posts 1980s-ish Music Video "Purple Eyeshadow"
Anime voice actress Ai Furihata has posted a four-minute full music video for "Purple Eyeshadow," the lead track from her upcoming second solo mini-album "Make-Up" to be released on December 23, 2020.
Furihata is best known as the voice of Ruby Kurosawa in the Love Live! Sunshine!! franchise and a member of its nine-member voice actress unit Aqours. While performing as a member of the very successful unit, she made her solo singer debut with her first mini-album "Moonrise" in September of this year. The six-song album ranked 18th in Oricon's weekly album chart.
As with all the other songs in the two albums, the lyrics of the song were written by herself. Akimitsu Honma, known for his producing works for popular J-pop artists including Noriyuki Makihara, Ayumi Hamasaki, Koumi Hirose, and Porno Graffitti, serves as composer, arranger, and producer. The music video features appearances by Ayano Kudo, Shun Nishime, and Yuya Uno, and has a feeling of a trendy 80s drama about a romantic relationship between a man and a woman.

30 Days of Myu: Day 10
Again -> it's rather part 10 than day 10 xD
Part 10: Least Favorite Inner Senshi.
Ami/Mercury: Kawabe Chieco. I liked her a lot when I was new at Myu but the more I did research about her and the more I watched Musicals with her I feld like she really was PLAYING the role. I don't believe her innocence or cleverness. She is a really good singer but she is just too bubbly - and yeah slutty for Ami. She would have made a perfect Venus imao (she should have changed roles with Ayumi).
Rei/Mars: Honma Risa. I mentioned in the post about my favorite Senshi actresses that it is important for Mars to be mature. Unfortunately Risa wasn't. She was a child. She could have been Mars' cute, bubbly little sister but she wasn't mature enough to be a good Rei. Her singing wasn't good too. She was more a baby to me than a passionate teenager with fire. In her case, 13 years were way too young to play a role like Mars on stage.
Makoto/Jupiter: Sugimoto Ayano. Like I said I'm no big fan of Jupiter but this girl ruined a strong character with her childish acting. Her introduction at the Fankansha Event was also like -_________- okaaay. And her singing is... - well I used to call her rubber duck..probaly she would have been a nice Venus. Probably. If she was smaller a prefect Chibimoon.
Minako/Venus: Erica. She just was ..slutty for me. Her singing wasn't that good too and for a half-american her pronunciation was pretty bad too. My former best friend called her american beach b****. And somehow she's right. It seems like the last shows were casted with a lot of too young girls. That is a pity..
